We are very pleased to announce that Selligent is now ISO 27701 certified!
This is a great step forward for our company, as we adhere to this new standard to provide a comprehensive set of controls for information security and the protection of personal information.
In 2019, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) released ISO/IEC 27701 (ISO 27701). As a privacy extension to ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27002, it is designed to help organizations protect and control the personal information they handle. This new ISO standard is similar to the existing ISO standards and, according to CSOonline.com, “may become the de facto standard of care for organizations to protect personally identifiable information (PII).”
The ISO 27701 standard can be mapped to many of the requirements under GDPR, CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act), or other laws. An ISO 27701 certification represents the state of the art in terms of privacy protection and allows Selligent to increase our maturity and demonstrate an active approach to personal data protection.
We are proud to be one of the first in our industry to get this certification. Kudos to our Data Protection core team for this accomplishment. This was not an easy accomplishment and is the result of a lot of individual efforts over the last few years, with many of our team chasing Data Protection Agreements around the world.
I am also pleased to share that, according to feedback we received, the auditors were impressed by the quality of our implementation, but even more impressed by the fact that they felt everyone at Selligent really cares about information security and privacy. Indeed we do – and we will continue to be at the forefront when it comes to information security and the protection of personal information.
