Selligent Embraces Leading Standards for Protecting Personal Data in the Cloud

European ISO 27018 certification provides brands with heightened levels of security for PII storied in Selligent’s cloud-based omnichannel marketing solutions

(BRUSSELS, BELGIUM) 15 FEBRUARY, 2017 – Selligent, a provider of relationship marketing solutions based on consumer insights, today announced that it has received ISO 27018 certification in Europe. By adopting the certification’s rigorous controls for protecting personably identifiable information (PII) in the cloud, Selligent is one of the first omnichannel marketing providers to meet new EU data privacy rules that will go into effect on 25 May 2018 as part of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).


Selligent’s new ISO 27018 certification is in addition to its existing global ISO 27001 certification, which covers the security of Selligent’s internal information systems and data. Together, these certificates ensure that the necessary protocols are in place to help protect against data loss by Selligent or its clients.

Awarded by Institut fur Auditierung und Zertifizierung GmbH, the ISO 27018 certificate verifies that Selligent has introduced an information technology and security techniques code of practice for protection of personally identifiable information in public clouds across the EU. Selligent is certified for having a secure operation for Selligent software and service solutions to customers, as well as Selligent internal networks and software research and development processes. It has been proofed by a certification audit that the requirements of the standard of ISO/IEC 27018:2014 are fulfilled in connection with the certification of the Security Management System to ISO/IEC 27001:2013.

ISO 27018 is the first international code of practice for cloud privacy. Based on EU data-protection laws, it gives specific guidance to cloud service providers (CSPs) acting as processors of PII on assessing risks and implementing state-of-the-art controls for protecting PII. Selligent’s early certification demonstrates its commitment to meeting the rigorous data security standards required by GDPR.
