Designing your emails for mobile: 10 do’s and 6 don'ts

Sometimes images say more than words. Take this infographic that has been designed by Litmus, for instance.

Renderability specialist Litmus, that enables you to preview your email on 30 email clients and mobile devices and is used in Selligent Interactive Marketing, made it to give a fast overview of the key guidelines to design a mobile-friendly email.

That's not a luxury if you know that, according to new research by comScore, personal email use attracted the largest mobile audience in the US with more than 81 million mobile users in August 2011, an increase of 26 percent from the previous year.

Using email for work on a mobile device rose over 14% from the previous year. You can find more data in the report here (registration necessary). In other countries, the rise of mobile email obviously is significant, as well as we wrote earlier.

Back to the Litmus infographic. It provides ten tips to design your mails for mobile and six things to avoid.
