The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on May 25th, 2018 and the date is quickly approaching. The new European regulation streamlines governing laws related to how European and worldwide organizations may hold and use customer data, and is intended to improve the security individual private data. At Selligent Marketing Cloud, data privacy is a part of our DNA and has been since the company’s founding in Brussels more than 25 years ago. Here’s what we’ve been done to prepare our clients for the GDPR:

  • We’ve invested in high standard certifications

    • Selligent Marketing Cloud is certified in ISO 27001 in both Europe and the United States and ISO 27018 in Europe. (ISO 27018 certification in the United States is currently being processed and expected soon.)

    • Selligent Marketing Cloud, Inc. is also certified under the Privacy Shield Certification. Privacy Shield Certification supports transatlantic commerce between EU and the United States to provide companies on both sides of the Atlantic with a mechanism to comply with GDPR’s data protection requirements.

  • We’ve launched the Selligent Marketing Cloud GDPR Center, which will be updated with information and resources to help our clients and partners prepare for the new regulation.

  • Selligent Marketing Cloud continues to invest in technology and processes to enable our clients to manage data compliance in the best way they see fit.  Some examples are:

    • Offering data security options such as encryption, permissioning, data retention rules and ability to host data in the EU (EU clients have their data hosted in the EU by default).

    • Processing activities are automatically monitored so that intrusion detection and data movement can be monitored.

    • Clients can select tools to manage GDPR requirements via flexible forms, self-service database structures, and an extensible platform that can be connected with our clients’ internal systems, i.e. CRM applications.
