Gosselies, Belgium, September 25, 2001 – Selligent, a leading European CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and e-business software company, today announced an entirely newly architected web-based CRM product, Selligent.NET Xi, offering “zero-client” access to users of a simple Web browser.

With Selligent.NET Xi, Selligent has gone to great lengths to offer a level of performance, scalability, and security previously unheard of in a true n-tier architecture. The Selligent Xi product line now offers users a choice of usage models: Selligent Xi for Windows, a client server product that can also be used off-line by mobile users, and Selligent.NET Xi, accessible via Web browsers or mobile devices. Both product lines use the same meta-data layer (containing information on configuration, data models, and business processes), making them highly compatible.

'Selligent.NET Xi is a true zero-client Web-based architecture, a brand new scalable platform from Selligent', said André Lejeune, CEO of Selligent. 'Market analysts estimate that Selligent.NET Xi provides the most advanced Web-based architecture on the market for CRM applications today, incorporating elaborate techniques to boost performance, scalability, and flexibility.”

Adds Thierry Téchy, Selligent’s CTO: “Our object pooling and streaming facilities provide clear benefits over simple object-oriented application platforms. Our usage of XML between different application layers allows intelligent and safe usage of firewalls (keeping most doors in the firewall closed) for maximum security.”

Selligent says that the new Web solution is available as a preview release immediately, and will be generally available as from end of October 2001.

Selligent.NET Xi has been completely re-written by Selligent developers in a pure, thin-client (even zero-client) architecture. This means that no software has to be installed on PCs of users, reducing enormously the cost of installation and maintenance. Furthermore, no parts of the Selligent.NET application will be downloaded on a client PC at runtime (disguised as 'applets” – the diminutive is often misleading), slowing down performance and consuming network bandwidth. Selligent.NET offers the lowest possible cost of ownership of CRM products with comparable functionality: Not only is it fast and simple to deploy and maintain, but users can also work with modest PC configurations and do not need to be in the race for the fastest, most powerful, and most expensive PCs.
Of course, Selligent.NET Xi also offers Selligent’s recently announced Global & Local functionality. This unique feature will be particularly useful to companies with different subsidiaries or divisions operating in different countries or different lines of business. It allows them a great degree of freedom of operations in local cultures while ensuring company-wide coherence of their CRM system.

Selligent.NET Xi is ASP-ready, meaning that access is via the Internet, and all application functionality is executed centrally on an application server (or a set of application servers). As a result, the application is easier and more effective to integrate with others in the IT infrastructure, such as enterprise resource and supply chain management systems.

The business logic of Selligent.NET Xi is implemented as a collection of objects in the Selligent.NET server, which can be executed on different computers (“application servers”).
The Selligent.NET Server offers significant technological advantages allowing rapid activation of user processes, and fast response regardless of how many users log on the system Thus substantial numbers of users can be added while maintaining response times and service levels, as the business fluctuates with demand.
