The Magic of Momentum

This week, the Presidential primary process – during which the two main parties select their Presidential candidate – draws to a close in the United States. After more than 20 candidates across the two main parties contested to be their party’s nominee, it seems that this week, the field will have whittled down to two candidates. During this process, different candidates have won and lost in different States and through different formats. And, there has been a plethora of storylines to keep us political junkies enthralled, entertained, and, at times, enraged. But, one of the most interesting memes that appears every four years is the notion of “momentum.” A candidate that is behind the others in the race for delegates, can suddenly become a press darling because of a surge in the polls or a win in a particular State.

As I reflect on this, I can’t help but draw parallels to the business world - and to Selligent in particular. Just six months ago, we were largely unknown in the U.S. and unheralded by analysts and the media. And, what a six months it has been. The merger with StrongView has helped catapult us into the U.S. market - we hear from customers and prospects that they are starting to see and hear our name frequently. In May, Gartner published its latest Magic Quadrant of Multi-Channel Campaign Management vendors in which Selligent features prominently. And, just a couple of weeks ago, Forrester published its Wave of Cross-Channel Campaign Management vendors. Selligent had never been featured before in this Wave. In our first appearance, Forrester evaluated us as a Strong Performer.

When we speak to analysts and customers, we frequently hear that our natively integrated solution is what sets us apart. Our single data model that underlies all of our solutions makes real-time, cross-channel engagement a real capability and not a slide in a powerpoint deck. And, while we’re flattered - and we agree - for us, it’s all about helping our clients to deliver on the promise of consumer-first marketing. It requires a change of approach and a new way of thinking. And, that doesn’t happen overnight. But, whether the analogy is political campaigns, military battles, or competitive sports, we all recognize momentum when we see it. It gives us strength and hope. It pushes us to reach higher, to do more. And, that’s how we feel at Selligent right now. We are delighted to have been recognized as a key player in our market, and we are beginning to feel the wind at our backs as we push to do bigger and better things for our customers. We’re pushing higher and striving to do even more.

We can’t wait for next year’s evaluations!
